Aquamarine is the birthstone for the month of March. The word aquamarine comes from Latin word marinus which means water of the sea. This crystal resembles the color of the ocean. In history, this stone was believed to provide victory in battles and disputes hence it was very popular. Aquamarine is good for the throat chakra. Aquamarine also honors Mayan goddess of motherhood named Akna and Slavonic goddess of water named Kunlapa. It was believed to be the treasure of mermaids and worn by sailors as an amulet of good luck and protection during their ventures. It was believed the two shoulder stones of the High Priest of the Second Temple were Aquamarines. Each was engraved with six of the tribes of Israel.
