Smoky Quartz’s Soft Glimmer

This smoky quartz has a delicate palette: mostly colourless to pale grey, with faint brownish tones in places. Bright white reflections catch on smooth, glossy surfaces, while dark shadows lend depth to transparent and translucent areas. There is a lovely contrast between the softness of its colour and the sharpness of its glints.

Smoky quartz can develop its colour in nature when radiation affects quartz containing small amounts of aluminium. It is an intriguing detail about the crystal family, especially alongside the barely-there shades visible here.

The small, irregular forms range from rounded to angular, with elongated, triangular and roughly oval outlines. Their silhouettes suggest a miniature cove beneath a constellation, where pale light touches the water and each glossy edge seems to catch a small star.
