A Little Lantern of Rose Quartz

Pale pink and bright white reflections give this rose quartz pendant a softly luminous presence. Its elongated, rounded body narrows towards the top, while the smooth, glossy surface contrasts with the cloudy patches within. Pale angular lines cross the translucent pink, adding small changes of direction to an otherwise gently flowing outline.

Rose quartz beads dating to around 7000 BCE have been recorded from ancient Mesopotamia. That discovery adds a thread of human history to the enjoyment of this softly coloured material.

There is something lantern-like about this pendant: a small vessel of pink light, drifting through an imagined dusk. Its clouds soften the brightness, while those faint angular lines give the delicate colour an unexpected geometry.
