Blue paths and rugged edges

Blue and blue-grey give Dumortierite Raw its rugged character, broken by whitish-grey areas and scattered patches of tan. Its irregular outline turns through angular edges, while ridges and grooves bring detail to the uneven surface. Granular-looking speckles add a finer texture, making the colour feel less like a single wash and more like a miniature landscape with many paths to follow.

Soft light catches the raised surfaces in pale highlights, leaving deeper contours in shadow. In an imagined luminous cavern, these contrasts could become blue walls and pale ledges, with shaded passages winding between them. The pleasure is in those small changes: a groove that deepens the blue, a ridge touched by light, a tan patch that becomes a tiny island in the surrounding colour.
