Desert rose stone

A bloom of sand and light

Desert rose stone brings sandy beige, warm tan and pale cream together in an uneven, flower-like form. Thin plates overlap densely, their projecting edges giving the outline a lively, irregular rhythm. Small bright highlights glint across the plate faces, while darker shadows between the layers draw the eye into its folds.

Look a little closer and fine ridges interrupt the softer colours, alongside rough, grainy-looking patches. Several flower-like arrangements open across the mound, each angled a little differently. There is something gently surprising about this layered shape: in an imagined garden, it could be a blossom made from sand-coloured pages, its petals held mid-turn. The pale cream edges trace that unfolding shape, bright against the shadowed spaces beneath.
