Apatite – XXS

Apatite’s Little Blue Cove

Pale cyan, teal and deep blue mingle across this apatite, giving it a watery palette with plenty of contrast. Fine white or cream lines trace the smooth-looking, glossy surfaces, while pale mottled patches interrupt the richer colour. Bright reflected highlights pick out the rounded contours, turning small areas of blue into flashes of light.

The shapes have an irregular, pebble-like character: some oval, others roughly triangular or short and block-like. Their varied outlines lend the scene a loose, unhurried rhythm. In an imagined miniature cove, the pale markings could become slender trails of foam crossing blue water, with each glossy highlight a tiny star caught on the surface and each darker patch a sheltered inlet.
