The Ruby Pendant’s Many Shades
Deep pink meets purplish red in the oval face of this ruby pendant. Angular facets catch bright points of light, while darker patches lend depth to the colour. A broad, silver-coloured rim frames the face, its highlights picking out fine surface marks and a lightly mottled appearance. Above it, a small round connecting loop leads to an elongated upper loop.
Fine streaks and scattered pale specks make the face more varied than a single sweep of red. Bright edges contrast with the darker areas, giving this pendant a vivid, individual character. The pattern brings to mind an imagined meadow of deep pink flowers: rich colour gathered closely together, with a few pale petals showing between the deeper blooms.
