Obsidian XXL’s Islands of Light
Bright white reflections give Obsidian XXL a striking rhythm, flashing across black, glossy surfaces before meeting deep shadow. Curved, ripple-like lines sweep over the stone, interrupted by uneven ridges and small rough-looking patches. Its pointed upper end and broader lower portion create an irregular, angular silhouette—a shape whose changing surfaces give the eye plenty to explore.
The glossy black surfaces invite a small imagined world: dark islands reflected in still water, their outlines touched with white. Follow a bright curve into shadow and another highlight appears, bringing attention back to this piece’s distinctive contrast: a sharp outline against the softer sweep of a reflection.
