Polycrystalline Silicon: Light Along the Ridges
Polycrystalline silicon brings dark grey and black into sharp conversation with light. Its shiny surface flashes with silver-coloured highlights, while dark areas give those reflections striking contrast. The tall, roughly block-like form is far from smooth or regular: pronounced ridges, grooves and small angular faces give the eye plenty to follow, each bright reflection drawing attention to another part of the uneven surface.
There is something wonderfully intricate about that contrast. In an imagined landscape, the angular outline could become a little tower beneath a shadowy canopy, its edges catching glimpses of brightness through the leaves.
