Brecciated Jasper is a silica-rich lapidary material composed of angular Jasper or Chert fragments recemented by later mineral growth. Cream Chalcedony, clear Quartz and dark iron-rich seams may divide red, burgundy, brown, grey or black fragments into bold mosaics, preserving both the original breakage and the geological processes that joined the stone again.

Brecciated Jasper is not one mineral species but a rock texture and commercial category. Some pieces contain clearly displaced angular clasts, while others are relatively intact Jasper crossed by dense healed fractures. It differs from conglomerate, whose fragments are more rounded, and from many crackle stones, where one continuous piece was fractured without developing a true clast-and-cement structure.

Well-silicified areas commonly measure approximately 6.5–7 on the Mohs scale and have no true cleavage, but open seams, weathered zones, fillings or weaker mineral cement may remain vulnerable. Clean sound pieces briefly with lukewarm water, mild soap and a soft cloth or brush, then dry thoroughly. Avoid sharp impacts, prolonged soaking, steam and ultrasonic cleaning when dye, resin, glue, druzy cavities, repairs or uncertain treatments are present.
