Rutile Quartz: Light Between the Lines
Rutile quartz has a gentle range of colour, from nearly colourless sections to smoky grey and pale brown, with darker brown areas adding depth. Smooth, glossy surfaces catch bright white reflections, while rounded, oval and oblong outlines give the pieces a pebble-like character. Even the more rectangular shapes have softened corners—a lovely contrast to the fine lines visible within.
Look closer and the clear-looking areas give way to cloudy patches, threaded here and there with pale and brownish lines. These small details invite a slower look: a shift from brightness to haze, from a soft outline to a slender mark. In an imagined constellation cove, the white reflections could become little lights on the water, shining against a smoky-grey sea.
