Rose Quartz, Soft Colour and Rugged Edges

Pale pink gives this raw rose quartz a gentle first impression, but its uneven surface has a rugged character. Milky-white patches and streaks cross the colour, while bright reflections pick out small faces between angular ridges. Visible fissure-like lines add fine detail to the broad, upright form.

Rose quartz beads dating to around 7000 BCE have been recorded in ancient Mesopotamia. That early use offers a lovely contrast to the rough shape: instead of a bead’s rounded outline, sloping sides rise towards a narrower, uneven top.

There is a little landscape to dream into these contours—a pale river threading between terraces, each ridge briefly catching the light. The softness belongs to the colour, not the outline; even the smallest reflective face brings a crisp glint to the blush.
