Picture Jasper’s Warm, Winding Colours
Cream and off-white give this picture jasper sphere a light, open feel, threaded with tan, ochre and reddish-brown bands. Their irregular paths wander across the smooth-looking surface rather than settling into neat stripes. Scattered black specks and thin dark lines add a finer rhythm, while soft highlights and gentle shading follow the sphere’s rounded curve.
Read as an imagined landscape, those winding colours might become the walls of a luminous cavern, its pale spaces crossed by warm ribbons. There is something inviting about the contrast: broad sweeps of colour with such small, intricate marks. The rounded shape holds both kinds of detail together, giving the eye room to follow an ochre band, then linger over a few tiny points of black.
