Petrified Coral’s Ochre Garden
Tan and ochre-brown drift into deeper brown across this petrified coral, while fine cream markings bring its patterns into focus. Across a broad, roughly oval face, circular, radiating motifs are separated by slender pale lines that trace polygonal boundaries. Soft highlights illuminate the smooth-looking surface.
The pattern could be an imagined garden seen from above, each rounded motif held within its own delicate border. The pieces have irregular, rounded or lobed outlines. There is a lovely contrast between those uneven silhouettes and the intricate markings within them: broad brown areas crossed by a pale network, like tiny garden paths finding their way between flower beds.
