A Little Lantern of Blue-Green Fluorite

This fluorite pendant with 925 silver detail has a watery softness: pale blue-green colour, a smooth, glossy surface and bright white reflections across its front. Its slightly uneven teardrop outline narrows at the top and opens into a rounded base, while cloudy areas and irregular pale lines lend the translucent body a world of smaller shapes.

Fluorite also has a lovely connection to the language of light. In 1852, the word fluorescence was coined from fluorspar, another name for fluorite—a small piece of history carried in a familiar word.

The colours invite an imagined scene of lanterns drifting over blue-green water, their reflections stretching and breaking as they move. In the pendant itself, crisp highlights meet softer clouds, and those pale inner lines trace an elusive little horizon within the rounded drop.
