Aventurine’s Little Sea of Green
Blue-green colour gives this aventurine sphere a watery richness, with lighter and darker green mottling gathered across its rounded surface. Fine speckling adds delicate detail to the smooth, glossy finish, while bright, pale reflections stand out against the deeper greens.
Aventurine takes its name from an Italian expression meaning “by chance,” by way of the name given to glittering aventurine glass. It is a lovely bit of word history to carry alongside a piece whose mottled colour invites a closer look.
In an imagined seascape, those green patches become islands, with pale reflections like small sails caught between them. The round form gives this little world no corners—just a continuous curve carrying colour, fine speckles and pools of light.
