Ammonite Fossil: Warm Colours, Winding Curves
Amber-orange, reddish-brown and tan sweep across this ammonite fossil, divided by cream-white curves. The lines turn inward through chamber-like sections, gathering around a small centre. Pale grey and white speckling breaks up the warmer colours, giving the broad face a delicate, mottled character and plenty of little contrasts to explore.
Bright highlights catch the mostly smooth face and the rough, sparkling edges of several recessed openings. Broad sweeps of colour give way to grainy hollows, bringing a different texture to the spiral. In an imagined landscape, those curved divisions might become winding paths, circling towards a tiny meeting point. But the outline offers a surprise of its own: an uneven, layered rim and an irregular projection interrupt the rounded rhythm.
