Black Tourmaline, Ridge by Ridge
Black and dark charcoal-grey give this raw tourmaline schorl a deep, richly contrasting appearance. Along some ridges and edges, bright, silvery-looking reflections interrupt the darker surfaces—small glints that draw the eye toward the uneven contours rather than a single smooth face.
Pronounced parallel grooves lend parts of the surface a strong linear rhythm, while rougher areas break that rhythm into irregular textures. The visible forms range from blocky to elongated, with uneven edges that make each outline worth following. There is plenty to explore in the contrast between ordered ridges and rugged patches.
In an imagined miniature landscape, those dark forms could become steep cliffs, their edges briefly lit against a charcoal sky. The brightest ridge becomes a slender line of light along the rock.
