Rhodochrosite is manganese carbonate, MnCO3, and the manganese-rich member of the Calcite group. It ranges from pale peach and banded pink stalactites to raspberry-red rhombohedral crystals, with changing manganese, calcium and iron content helping to shape its colour and layered appearance.
