Sun stone– 0.1 - 0.25 kg Raw

A soft blush with rugged edges

Raw sunstone brings pale pink and peach together with off-white, interrupted by scattered grey and black patches. The colours are gentle, but the shapes have a bolder character: bulky, irregular outlines, angular edges and uneven faces. Small bright highlights catch across the rough surfaces, while shadow gathers in the crevices, bringing the coarse, grainy texture into view.

There is something inviting about that contrast between soft colour and rugged form. The uneven ridges give the eye plenty to follow, from a pale face into a darker recess and back to a point of light. In an imagined landscape, these tones could become a peach-coloured hillside, its broken contours marked by little charcoal-dark outcrops.
