Serpentine’s Little World of Olive and Gold

Yellow-green and olive shades mingle across this serpentine pendant, broken by dark brown to nearly black mottling. Pale cream patches bring lighter notes, while a tan area stretches across the middle of the upright oval. There is plenty to follow within that simple outline: uneven pools of colour, fine pale lines and bright reflections on the upper face. Its rounded front looks smooth and glossy.

These colours could belong to an imagined luminous cavern, with olive walls, cream-lit openings and deep shadow gathered between them. Yet the pendant’s appeal is in the small details already visible: the contrast between its gently rounded shape and irregular markings, and the tan passage through the heart of the green.
