Sardonyx in Warm Shadows and Pale Light

Reddish-brown, dark brown and near-black areas give this Sardonyx pendant a richly shaded face, interrupted by irregular patches of pale grey-white. Its elongated, rounded rectangular outline holds those contrasts together without making the pattern feel orderly. The surface looks smooth and glossy, with bright reflected highlights and a gleam on the small silver-coloured loop at the top.

An imagined terraced garden offers a playful way into the pattern: grey-white paths wandering among earth-coloured beds and deep pools of shade. Yet the glossy highlights bring the eye back to the pendant itself.
