Red Jasper: A Little Landscape in Red
Red jasper brings together brick-red warmth and deeper red, crossed by scattered dark grey-brown lines and patches. Broad, pale reflections sweep across the smooth, glossy surfaces. Rounded, irregular outlines take oval, elongated and roughly triangular forms, while broader, flattened faces give the light room to spread.
These colours suggest a small imagined river landscape, its red terraces stepping down towards shadowed water. A dark line becomes a winding channel; a pale reflection catches the light along a bend, turning the pebble-like forms into a landscape in miniature.
