Picture Jasper Egg, Traced in Earth and Ink
Cream and beige mingle with tan, rusty brown and grey across this picture jasper egg. Thin dark brown to black lines thread through irregular mottled patches, while dense speckling adds a finer layer of detail. Soft highlights and deeper shading follow the smooth-looking curved surface, giving the earthy colours a gentle play of light.
Closely spaced streaks bring a different rhythm to the pattern. In an imagined landscape, they might become winding paths around a sheltered cove, passing between pale sand and shadowed shores. The narrower rounded top and broader lower curve draw these shifting marks into a simple, graceful outline: a little world of wandering lines, held within the shape of an egg.
