A Little Nightscape in Mahogany Obsidian
Warm reddish-brown fills this mahogany obsidian heart, broken by irregular black patches and fine dark markings. A bright white reflection sits on the upper-right curve, drawing the eye across a surface that looks smooth and glossy.
Obsidian is volcanic glass, formed when lava cools so quickly that crystals have little opportunity to grow. Here, two rounded upper lobes meet at a central notch before narrowing to a tapered point—a soft, familiar outline framing those contrasting colours.
There’s room for a little imagined nightscape here: a sheltered cove beneath a constellation, its dark headlands edged with warm brown. That white reflection becomes one bright star resting on the heart’s rounded shoulder.
