A little cove of white
The Howlite Square Donut pendant brings together white to off-white colour and wandering grey lines. Darker branches cross its smooth, glossy-looking surface, while bright highlights catch the rounded outer corners. Its square opening repeats that softened outline, giving the shape an airy centre. Howlite takes its name from Henry How, the chemist and mineralogist who first described the mineral.
There is something of a tiny imagined cove here: pale shores crossed by shadowy paths, with open space at their heart. The irregular markings lend movement to a shape that otherwise feels simple and steady. Rather than a solid square, it offers a frame of white, its gently rounded inner corners making the empty centre part of the pendant’s character.
