Amethyst Cathedral: A World of Purple Light
Deep purple gathers inside this amethyst cathedral, framed by a broad white border, slender blue-grey bands and a charcoal outer edge. Its tall, asymmetric arch has an uneven rounded crown, while pale green touches along the lower edge soften the darker frame.
Across the recessed centre, densely clustered points create a lively play of light and shadow. Bright white highlights catch their angular faces, while the gaps between them deepen into darkness. The rough-looking exterior offers a striking contrast to these crisp, glittering forms.
Amethyst’s name comes from the Greek amethystos, recalling an old belief about sobriety. It is a small piece of language history to carry into this imagined cavern, where the charcoal-dark rim seems to shelter a whole landscape of luminous purple peaks.
