Shattuckite is a distinct orthorhombic copper silicate hydroxide with the formula Cu5(SiO3)4(OH)2. It forms in the oxidised zones of copper deposits, where copper-rich groundwater and silica create azure fibres, radial sprays, velvety crusts and compact blue masses.
