✨ What makes Meteorites special?
- The name records a journey: in space it is a meteoroid, its luminous atmospheric passage is a meteor, and surviving material on the ground becomes a meteorite.
- Some preserve the Solar System’s earliest materials: primitive chondrites contain rounded chondrules and ancient inclusions formed before the planets were complete.
- Atmospheric flight leaves a final signature: brief surface melting may create a thin fusion crust, while ablation can sculpt flowing lines and thumbprint-like depressions.
