Quartz and feldspar are normally important parts of the material. Depending on the specimen and locality, the darker matrix may also contain mica, iron-bearing minerals, clay minerals and other accessory components.
The name is not governed by a universal geological definition. Consequently, specimens sold as Que Sera can vary in colour, composition, texture and country of origin. Brazilian material is especially common in the decorative-stone trade.
The names Galaxy Rhyolite, Blue Liberite and Llanite are sometimes used alongside Que Sera. These terms should be treated carefully because true llanite refers to a specific blue-quartz porphyritic rock from the Llano region of Texas.
