The name turquoise comes from the same French word, “Turquoise” which translates to “Turkish” because it originally arrived in Europe through Turkey, originating in Iran. It is the birthstone for the month of December. Turquoise is a beautiful stone which varies from sky blue to a paler sky blue and with black line pattern it is called “Spider-web” turquoise. Since ancient times, it has been used as jewelry item in Egypt. In ancient times, Pharaohs decorated their masks by these gems. It was also used by kings, shamans and soldiers because it is a stone of protection yet has a soft texture and soothing to look at. Something interesting said about turquoise is that it can shift colors depending on the health of the owner as it can dull the colors of the owner is sick and lose all color if owner dies but it can gain color if passed down to a healthy owner. Turquoise also protects people from fall injuries and was worn by warriors and is still worn by riders. It is a good stone for someone who can’t get over a bad decision as it can provide the wearer self-acceptance and forgiveness.
